A Firefly In The Sky

Want to watch a star in it’s last moments of glory before it dies? Get a pair of good Binocs and peer in the direction of the Little Dipper tonight and you’ll see a Supernova in action in the Pinwheel Galaxy M101.

And what is a Supernova? When a star that’s about eight to fifteen times more massive than our sun runs out of Hydrogen and Helium, it collapses into itself and then explodes outwards into space. A Supernova can briefly outshine an entire galaxy and radiate more energy than our sun will in it’s entire lifetime! These explosions are the primary source of heavy elements in the Universe.
Like a Firefly in the sky, don’t you think?

So if you want a rare glimpse of heavy duty Creation in action, go beg, borrow or steal those Binoculars!

Hello!

It has been a long, long time. And I have lost that ease with which I used to blog. This is a new place, and I am trying to get the hang of things. Considering just how tech challenged I am, I think it will take me a while. I found the tutorial quite useful… Still, I don’t even know, as yet, how to search out blogs that are of interest to me, or if it is possible to add friends, skip from an interesting comment to a blog and so on.  But I like what I see. In fact, I love what I see! So keep your fingers crossed and wish me luck. And of course, give me tips on how to get around.

Meanwhile, welcome to my world!
